This looks like the bracket of Death in Class 1A! Who wins it and why? Is there a team that presents a bad match up for the other contenders, or is the team that wins it just going to get on a roll? I see about 6 teams that could come out of here and win this Substate...GLR, SOB, RStM, KP, Gehlen, Lawton Bronson. I could see alot of close low scoring games in the the District Finals and Substate game. My Pick is: SOB

Having seen them both play I would take GLR winning the game. The way they match up I’m not sure SOB can stop their post presence.

George Little Rock has some nice size (3-4 players that play above the rim) and play at fast pace as well. They could be another team to battle GVC in Des Moines. Barring some crazy upsets tonight, South O'Brien and GLR should be a fun game to watch on Thursday night. Winner of that district final finds their way to Des Moines more than likely.
Both games in District 1 should be good tonight:
RSM (16-6) vs KP (14-8): RSM does not have the size to battle GLR, though they have played two close games with South O'Brien and are more than likely rooting for them to get to the substate if they take care of business against Kingsley-Pierson tonight. The first time they matched up RSM 60 - 53 KP

Gehlen (14-8) vs Lawton Bronson (14-7): Gehlen has hit an end of the season slump dropping 3 of their last 5, with one of the losses being to a 8-14 Hartley Melvin Sanborn team. Their game against Lawton-Bronson could be a good one tonight, a toss-up as Lawton-Bronson and Gehlen Catholic played each other in the first game of the year where GC won by 6.

Cakewalk for George Little Rock to Des Moines
Hmm...maybe a bit over confident. Enjoy the view from the baseline at Wells Fargo instead of the sideline where the fans sit that are watching their team play!

I just thought that SOB's zone was going to give a poor shooting GLR team problems. I guessed right.

100% it did.

They shot 19 3's out of 44 total attempts, without looking at every other games stats I would guess that is the highest percentage of 3's / total field goals all year. Definitely indicative of South O'Brien's defensive scheme.

GLR had some uncharacteristic turnovers in the first part of the game. South O'Brien's zone is gnarly, I agree. However, some of the turnovers were simple throw aways. They gave SOHS the lead early and they clang to it all night.
