No one's really standing out here, especially without a Siouxland Conference representative at state. Danville looks like they have their mojo back after injuries sidelined their two leading scorers. I can see a lower seed making some noise in 1A.

For the first time since I remember I can say that I wouldn't be surprised if any team advances to the semifinals. Games are very evenly matched.

Especially without a siouxland conference rep? Lol. Must not be a legit championship.

Danville had a tough district path topped off with a big win over an underrated Easton Valley team. I believe they are ready for Wells Fargo.

Now wait a minute. South O'Brien defeated a Siouxland team to get to state. Why do you act as if the field is watered down because Boyden Hull or Central Lyon are not in it? IKM-Manning is my pick to take it all. Tough all around. West Hancock-Britt is another team to look out for. Throw in the efficient South O'Brien squad and the returning champs and you have a pretty awesome field. I can't speak for the rest of the teams, but congrats to them as well. I think it's funny when people toss in the "It's not an official state tourney unless a team from NW Iowa is there" comments. Last time I checked South O'Brien is in the NW. Yes the may only be in the War Eagle, and not the NATIONALLY RENOWNED SIOUXLAND CONFERENCE. but they are still a legit team with many quality wins.

Stop twisting his words. No where did he say its not an official state without a siouxland team there. All he was stating was that it was pretty wide open field. If Boyden-Hull would of made it, I would of considered them the favorite. If Central Lyon would of made, I would of believed they would be a threat to win it. The siouxland has earned the respect of people thats all there is to it. Now with that being said I fully believe South O'Brien should be considered a favorite. Along with the winner of Gladbrook-Reinback and Jesup. Too bad those 2 have to face off in the first round. It is wide open and any team winning it will not surprise me.

I'm not twisting his words around. He is saying that it is anyones game because there are no Siouxland teams representing. You small school basketball pundits in NW Iowa are hilarious. You act is if Boyden Hull or Central Lyon were some kind of juggernauts this year. They weren't.

Nobody is twisting his words. His statement assumes that any siouxland conference team would automatically be the hands down favorite. Yes, they have had success, but stop living in the past. It's an insulting statement to the teams there THIS year.

That's exactly how I read it as well.

I always enjoy a little friendly trash-talking come tournament time.
As long as we don't use personal insults, keep it PG-13, don't call out individual kids, have at it!

I watched a bunch of Siouxland conf games this year. IMO, they were down across the board, knocking each off regularly.
Even if Boyden-Hull made it, I wouldn't have them as my favorite to win. The brutal conf schedule of 2A/3A teams is definitely an advantage, but they weren't physically dominate like past B-H or Rock Valley teams.
Toss-up, with Danville or IKM-Manning as my favorites.
Good luck to all!

Great game at Iowa City West Saturday night. Nike, I'll see you at Smoky D's downtown after the CBSA game.

I'm expecting a lot of close games on the 1A side. I doubt I could accurately pick all four winners in the opening round. GO BEARS!!!

How does Jesup wind up as the #6 seed?? Believe they haven't lost to a 1A team this year.

Umm because all of the teams seeded above them have only 1 or 2 losses. They seed based on W-L. Strength of Schedule or Strength of Loss only comes in to play when seeding teams with the same records.

Guess its better than the way they seed at state wrestling, pull a number out of their butt. The girls union has it figured out, don't know why the boys can't.

It seems like Jesup might benefit from being a 6 seed unless you're thinking they should be the one seed. 2,3,6 & 7 get to play in one bracket while 1,4,5&8 get to play in the other. Which bracket would you think is better?

The girls seed based on highest ranking and then best overall record. Once the boys get a unified and objective-as-possible Top 10-15 etc poll then they can think about doing what the girls do.

But then who wants the IHSAA to be deciding who the top 10 teams in each class are? I don't even think they want that responsibility.
