1A Football Scoreboard - Week Five

West Branch starts with a nice drive that stalls in the red zone. 27-yard FG is good. Bears 31, Bellevue 13, 4:43/3Q. #iahsfb

Regina game ended 45-7 with 1:45 to go in the third quarter due to a serious injury to a Highland player.
Hoping he's alright. Scary situation.

Western Christian comes back after being down by 10 at the half on the road against Hinton.
Held on to win by 3 playing with the #4 QB.

IF you didn’t see see Bellevue at West Branch. Then you might have missed the game of the year. Awesome environment as always. Both teams looked good. West Branch was just more resilient and made the big plays when called upon. Cromwell had that WOW factor last night too. 343 yards passing, school record. West Branch is in the driver seat now.

Heard Harmsen got a concussion the previous week and Granstra went down with a knee injury late against Hinton.
This is correct. Broek (1st string) is out for the season, Harmsen was out with a concussion vs Hinton (hopefully back this week?), Granstra went out vs Hinton with a knee injury (sounds pretty serious). If Harmsen isn't back this week, Western will start 4th string, JV QB, Feenstra, and 2nd string tailback Cole Haben. For Granstra's sake, I hope his injury isn't season ending. That kid is on a different level than just about everyone else on the field. Wins and losses aside, I hope the injury isn't something that takes away some potential for college etc.

Losing Granstra for an extended period of time would really hurt Western. He is a great athlete.

Sounds like it's just a bone bruise. Nothing torn. I heard 2-3 weeks. Playing without him does get other kids some time and hopefully builds some confidence. I just hope they can win enough to make the Playoff and get Granstra back to full strength when it really starts to count.

Good to hear. I would assume he would try to make it back for the West Lyon game next week.

I would think he'd really want to play in that game as well, and I would think West Lyon would want him to play also. Always a little less satisfying to beat a rival without their best players on the field. From a bigger picture, I think WL would like him to play so they know how to defend against him should they meet again in the playoffs.
