He had plenty of evidence but kept going to nail down his case. That patience ensures the conviction. It was 95% from the jump and he took it to 99.999%.
The gender, racism, trauma and sovereign shit only plays if you allow it. It's all an attempt to regain control...which isn't going to happen.
Refusal to take the test is a failure and refusal of breath and blood is a mandatory suspension of their license and makes my job so much easier. They get 3 chances on each test (Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, Walk and Turn, One Leg Stand). After 3 it's a fail which leads to probable cause for arrest. Even if they comply, there is a point system and it's pass/fail.

Sovereigns are fun...especially as a Sheriff with constitutional authority. As long as you know the law and you're following it, they can run their mouth all they like to no avail. Most get their law degrees from youtube, haha.
The best part with them is when they attempt to bait you into an interaction hoping that you fck up but you ignore them or just tell them you have no reason to speak with or interact with them in any way, they lose their shit. At that point they'll often give you probable cause and that jack's up their entire game plan, lol.
Yeah I get the DUI process. Seen plenty of vids of idiot drunks so have a good idea of the script. Seems like once they start down the path of giving you field sobriety it’s a DUI they are just building a case against you. It’s not an “investigation” and you ain’t gonna pass.

I've actually had people do well enough on SFST's that I didn't arrest them. I'm sure with some cops it's a formality but not for all of us.
Even if it's borderline and I think it could go either way, I'll usually get someone else to drive even if they have to call someone.
And remember, you don't necessarily have to blow over the limit to be charged with DUI.
Also, breathalyzer machines are designed to favor the drunk. Everything is rounded down in your favor and best case for the potential offender so as to remain above reproach.
This is most every call btw. "You can't do this...I know the law (or my rights)" or "You're trespassing anyway" or "I'm good friends with _____ and I'll have your badge"

Had one of the sovereign idiots get himself killed out here in Utah a few months back. Media just reported it as officer involved shooting, used a senior portrait type picture of the kid (I think he was 20 when it the traffic stop took place), and got all the idiots on social media fired up about it. Then they released the footage, and also turns out his family has had multiple similar run-ins with the cops, and the story just died and went away. Fortunately for them the sovereign idiot was a white kid.
