When did I say I wasn't concerned last year? I didn't join this site until late in the year, and no one asked me.

    Non-district games

Believe it or not, the numbers thing is now affecting the 4a schools as well. Centennial, for the first time in my 4 years following them, will be dressing the entire group of sophomores for all varsity games this year. Without those sophomores, we barely had 40 seniors and juniors. It's just...

    Non-district games

Certainly didn't mean to get off track, just didn't know about those sophomores playing up, and that their JV squad was actually comprised of freshman. I've been hearing really good things about Grinnell this year, so it will be fun to see how they do.

Totally agree, probably should have used a different choice of words. Like I said, credit to them for playing.

    Non-district games

I recall watching two years ago as the Ankeny Centennial sophomore team dismantled Grinnell, but perhaps you are saying this was their JV squad that didn't include their good sophomores? Not arguing just asking...I think we ended up with Grinnell because regular Ankeny was too banged up and had...

Personally, I just feel bad for the kids that lose time to these new guys. I know that some/most will simply say "get better." There is a kid from Ankeny who has been getting some NAIA and D2 looks and now Bruce will come in and take some of his reps, which just sucks for the kid, considering...

I can confirm I heard the same thing about the SE Polk transfers from out of state, and am also hearing whispers about the Ankeny transfer...I can confirm the Centennial story as RB/LB is my son and he is playing both ways as one of the RBs and the MLB, and probably punting. He has some really...

    Cedar Falls lose Landon Wolf?

I thought I heard he wasn't playing this year, so he could focus on basketball.

4A schedule and districts info 2020-21

I also think Waukee will be positioned nicely, due the enormous numbers they will have this final year before they split. Depth will go a long way for any of these top tier teams...

4A schedule and districts info 2020-21

Centennial lost a ton. 20 starters were seniors. That being said, the juniors played well as freshman and as sophomores, so we'll see. At this point, defense will be the concern. Not a ton of LB or DB size. My son was a junior starter last year as one of the RBs. He is up to 205 pounds...

4A schedule and districts info 2020-21

Yes, I looked at that schedule and I agree. And if they make the playoffs it will be a shame if they bump one of the tier 1 or tier 2 teams that only win 4 or 5 games.

4A schedule and districts info 2020-21

I think it will be interesting to see how the numbers play out. Again, speaking for Centennial, I know they will have maybe 50 kids on the varsity roster, while replacing 20! starters. I hope that because of the difficulty of these schedules, these tier 1 and tier 2 teams don't go into the...

4A schedule and districts info 2020-21

Schedules are out...I'm biased, so I think Ankeny Centennial has the toughest schedule in the state :) https://www.iahsaa.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Football-2020-Class-4A-Schedules.txt

    Dowling Valley Final?

Franky, I was simply pointing out my observations of being there that night...my son plays for Centennial, so I go to the games. I made the assumption that you go to CF games based on your posts, but perhaps I was wrong. I never once said anything bad about CF. You said you were at the...

    Dowling Valley Final?

Here is what you may not know about that game...Centennial was down their college-bound left tackle, their #1 running back, their #1 defensive end. They moved the starting tight end to play the interior line. There was a lot of shuffling that took place. As you probably know, Centennial runs...

    RPI in lower classes

When Ankeny and Centennial split, they were both 4A right away, and I believe Waukee currently has a higher enrollment at the HS than when Ankeny split, so I would guess that both Waukee schools will be 4A immediately.

    Centennial at West (Sioux City)

My son plays for Centennial; he told me that there plan is to play the starters briefly, while also using as much play clock as possible in order to shorten the game and avoid a ridiculous score. But to the original question, Centennial isn't averaging a huge number this year. For whatever...
