Remsen, St Mary's and Don Bosco Advance to finals.
I think Audubon vs St. Mary's will be a good game, possibly decided by less than 2 scores.
Haven't seen any film on DB or TV, kinda going with DB's tradition of being top dog.
In my opinion you have to have coaches in the building. If you're trying to build a successful program it helps to be able to see you kids everyday. This helps in terms of academics, behavior, and recruiting kids to your program. The more they know/trust you, the more they will do for you.
Heelan is a lot like Michigan. They really want to hire a "Heelan Man". Outsiders aren't super welcome there. The previous head coach was on staff for 20+ years and the community never really bought in from the start. If I'm not mistaken there is only 1 coach on staff that works in the school...
CAM @ Audubon.....man this is tough, my logic and gut say Audubon. But it is damn hard to beat someone twice.
HLV @ Turkey Valley
Fremont Mills @ Remsen St. Mary's
Easton Valley @ Don Bosco
Very solid chance Teams 1-4 in RPI make the Dome. We'll have to see.
FM is pretty beat up after the game vs CR-B. Their RB Malcom tweaked his knee in the 1st quarter, played a few snaps after but did not play the 2nd half. Additionally it was an absolute war zone up front, both teams working to ground and pound between the TE's and beating each other up pretty...
Either of the brackets on the East side. In my opinion the St. Mary's and Audubon's brackets are more competitive than Don Bosco's and Turkey Valley's. All 4 brackets saw some blow outs and a close game here and there. Either way the top 4 teams will be in the Dome, Audubon vs St. Mary's and...
Bracket A
#12 Harris-Lake Park (8-1) at #1 Audubon (9-1)
#8 Anita CAM (7-2) at #10 Lamoni (8-1)
Bracket B
#16 Rockford (7-2) at #2 Turkey Valley (9-0)
#14 Midland (7-2) at #11 HLV (7-2)
Bracket C
#9 East Mills (7-2) at #4 Remsen St. Mary’s (9-0)
#5 Coon Rapids-Bayard (8-1) at #7...
This is just my opinion, you are welcome to disagree...
It does not make sense. It is foolish to have EVERY TEAM qualify for the playoffs. The playoffs are for teams that have been successful that given season, which typically means having less than 3 losses (but not always). Far too many...
It very definitely is. Saying "Hey!...you all get to go to the playoffs even though you have done nothing to earn it!" is very definitely giving kids something for nothing. Making the playoffs is hard and you should not ever make the playoffs with a below .500 record. EVER.
I don't think N-F will be in unless they beat Remsen this week. That loss will put them back a few spots and they're currently at 22 on RPI. Even a week 9 win and some teams in front of them losing won't bump them up 10 spots. Now if they beat Remsen, there is a very solid chance they are in.
24 teams seems like a nice happy medium. Not sure how that shakes out with brackets and what not. Take top 2 in each district plus the next best 8? Then you don't have teams with losing records in and getting smoked 1st round.
You're delusional. Lot of work to be done, until they get their youth, JH and Freshman numbers up they will be finishing well below expectations. A loss to Lemars like that is bound to call for a shake up somewhere. No one is laying down and dying when the blue and gold shows up anymore.
I would entertain 8 man being split into 2 classes as well like Nebraska does. Right now I think 8 man has 64 teams participating. Some schools can field 40 players still while others are lucky to field 15-20
Hearing about their current numbers in junior high and Freshman football, it is not a way of life. 5 years ago they had 30 freshman, now they can barely get 20 kids out. Until they figure how to nurture and grow their JH and Freshman programs they will be second or even third fiddle to teams...
Everyone knows, if you want change you make damn sure your user name states who to fire. Relax, it's just football. Heelan will undoubtably rebound, just probably not this year. Programs all over are hurting for numbers, Heelan is the same.
Heelan is down, you would be foolish to disagree. Being involved with Heelan I can tell you the issues stem from the Admin and parents. Admins have had it too good for too long with no oversight or expectations, parents have griped and complained and ruined the competitive drive the school used...
Who you guys got? Any bold upsets? Just moved to an 8-man community so I'm still learning who are traditional power houses (from what I hear Don Bosco is ok).
