Judging by the performance of recent Grinnell MS, 9th, and JV teams they are entering a different era of football unless they can piece some things together. Among other reasons Dunne may be stepping down, I wouldn't be surprised if this was a contributing factor.

You certainly might be right, but it is also probably likely so that he can see his son, Eli, play in college. If Grinnell is down, it will only be temporary. Grinnell is a community that supports its schools and they will have solid football teams consistantly with an occasional outstanding team. And, I'm not from Grinnell.

I agree Clone, I imagine he will want to see Eli play for the Panthers. It will be interesting to see how he does at the next level. Grinnell definitely is an upper class town that will make the most of everything they have. I still think they struggle in the short term unless some talent is developed or moves in. I wonder if Pella might be in the same situation after next year?

My short answer is yes, Pella will come back down to earth after next year. They should be the prohibitive favorite to win again next year. But, things get more lean after that.

I know Pella has Clayberg and Henry back next year, which is huge obviously. Where else do they return a lot of guys besides their backfield and what do they not have coming back that they'll need to replace?

They return 6 starters on each side of the ball. On O they lose a good RB, a WR and right side of the line along with the Center. On D they lose 2 linemen, 2 LB and a DB. Kicker also gone. Biggest loss is Jansen on both lines, you don't replace a player like that. Also Murphy is explosive RB and great LB. But, several excellent players in the wings that got lots of PT last year. Line play will probably not be quite as strong next year, but the skilled positions will be crazy good. I really don't expect much drop off next year. 2016 might be rough though.

Just having Clayberg on the field with another year of experience will be a sight to see. He is fun to watch, but a nightmare to prepare for.

Any names floating around for all the opened positions? Clarke, CR Prairie, Burlington, Grinnell, Ft. Madison?

That time of year when things should start moving.

I am located on the Western half of the state so my involvement is limited, but I am guessing that things start to heat up after the break is over. Are these the only jobs that we know are currently open?

I believe Bedford is open as well.

Only ones that I have heard of. Independence was open but not sure if they filled or not.

Add Bedford and Independence to the list.

Here is the list so far I believe:

Clarke
CR Prairie
Burlington
Grinnell
North Butler
Davenport West
Davenport Central
Fort Madison
Bedford
Independence

Lincoln will be holding interviews here in about two weeks. Would expect the new coach to be announced by early February.

This job opens every 2-3 years and no one has been successful since the late 80's. Likely one of the worst coaching jobs in the state.

I agree with you, but you would think there would be resources there, money from a casino and not a terrible town.

I just read Keokuk is also open on footballscoop.com

Keokuk (IA): [/B]Per source, the head coaching job is open.

Any movement or names for these positions?

Clarke
CR Prairie
Burlington
Grinnell
North Butler
Davenport West
Davenport Central
Fort Madison
Bedford
Independence
SE Polk
Keokuk
Iowa City West

North English is also now open.

Is it just me, or are there a lot of jobs open, compared to other years?

To answer the question, I haven't heard anything about any jobs being filled, or even candidates for that matter.

Looking at the IAHSAA directory I think Independence replaced Krusey with Justin Putz for both AD and Head Football, I think he was the head coach at Louisa Muscatine for a year or two and was an assistant last year at Indee.

Alta/Aurelia was open as Kevin Hammer resigned(FINALLY..Thank Goodness) They are going with Co-Head Coaches for 2015.

I don't know A/A situation, but I have always questioned the use of co-head coaches, and how that works. I know there have been successful situations, but it seems weird to me.
