Like you said with Algona, I think some of that "balance" has to do with most teams not having more than 1 or 2 real solid pitchers. After that, on any given night, a team that hits the ball well has a chance. And I know it sounds like what I'm suggesting is unique to this season, but I've seen some of the top teams in the conference in the past with 2, 3 or even 4 quality guys in their rotation.Originally posted by GoingDeep410:
The gap between the top teams and the bottom teams has narrowed since St. Edmond used to dominate the NCC. There aren't any really super teams and no really bad teams. Garrigan and St. Edmond both are not the teams they used to be. Both appear to be very young. For that matter Clear Lake and Humboldt are young also, but they seem to be the best teams right now. There aren't any really good Senior dominated teams. Clear Lake, Humboldt and St. Edmond only two Seniors on their rosters. I don't think Garrigan has any Seniors.
Algona's Weston Shaw makes Algona a good team when he is pitching, otherwise I think they will struggle in the post season when is not pitching.
Humboldt might be a year away from making some noise in the post season. Their pitching looks pretty solid, but I don't know if they have enough beef in the lineup. Its too bad that Kole Kampen was recruited away by Fort Dodge. They would even be better.
