Mike Morrissey Leaves Cedar Rapids Prairie Hawks for same Job with DMHS

Cedar Rapids Prairie Hawks head football coach Mike Morrissey has left his job to accept the varsity head football coaching position with the Scottsdale Desert Mountain Wolves (Desert Mountain High School) in Scottsdale, Arizona taking the reigns from Tony Tabor who spent nine seasons.

Mike Morrissey spent four seasons since 2011 with the Cedar Rapids Prairie Hawks as head coach. He guided the team to a 19-22 record which included three postseason berths.

This season, Prairie Hawks finished fourth in Class 4A District 6 with a record of 4-5 which was good enough to qualify for the playoffs. Prairie lost in the first round to Pleasant Valley in overtime, 31-24.

In 2013, they also qualified for the playoffs. Prairie lost in the first round to Cedar Rapids Kennedy, 42-14.

In 2012, they also qualified for the playoffs. Prairie made it all the way to the quarterfinals before losing to Cedar Rapids Xavier.

In 2011, they did not qualify for the playoffs.

From 1982 to 2011, Prairie won only one playoff game.
