MAC Wrestling 2013-2014

This year's version of MAC wrestling will again be another strong one.
The first rankings of the season were released yesterday and the MAC has Six preseason Number 1 ranked wrestlers and another Six who are ranked Number 2.
Bettendorf is the preseason #1 in 3A and Assumption is the 2nd Ranked team in 2A. North Scott is also ranked 7th in 3a and Clinton has five ranked as well.

Bettendorf
Dogs have Four #1 ranked guys to start the season, 106 Jack Wagner, 132 Fredy Stroker, 138 Logan Ryan and 145 Jacob Woodard. They also have 113 #2 Jacob Schwarm and 285 #2 Raekwon Jefferson.

While this team may not be the best Dog team ever from top to bottom, they will be tough to beat with basically four guarenteed wins in every meet.
Can they find new studs to fill in the gaps? Jackson Gallagher, Drew Sass, Brady Leyrinck and Alex Lopez come to mind as candidates to fill voids in the lineup.

The dual with Assumption will be alot of fun to watch!

Assumption

Knights lost studs Easler, Springer and Georgean but still return quite a bit.
Coach Bush has 8 ranked wrestlers to begin the year and are ranked #2 in the team rankings behind Mediapolis.

The Knights have stalwarts 120 #5 Brendan Gould, 132 #1 Eric Clark, 145 #4 Tionte Parks and 152 #4 Danny Bush leading this year's version of Assumption wrestling with young guns 106 #2 Darien Collins, 113 #7 Jacob Fenske and newcomer 138 #2 Tristan Finch providing depth.
Throw in 182 #5 Gabe Rangel and Zach Adrian in the mix at either 220 or 285 and you have the makings of a championship caliber team.
Also consider Knights bring all everything football guy Jake Gervase back into the room after flirting with basketball the last couple of years. He and cousin Joe Argo will fill in nicely for the Knights.

If they stay healthy, watch out. Mediapolis had better be reallly good cause Knights are loaded with quality up and down lineup. We will find out this Thursday as the Knights travel to Mediapolis in early season slugfest!
