Not sure why he (Hinkle) went other than he is a good athlete and the ball was in the dirt. He most likely was reading the down-angle of the ball and took off on instinct. Not sure why you think he was ejected as he was not. With Valley needing two runs to tie, he should have been more cautious. Also, it took the bat out of the hands of Ben Miller who was left standing in the on-deck circle instead of a chance to tie the game with one swing.
